| | Outstanding engineers - Powerful engines from Stuttgart more..
| |
| | | | Stuttgart - In the internationally renowned competition entitled "Engine of the Year Awards", engines from the Stuttgart region won in four out of twelve categories. Three awards went to Mercedes-Benz and AMG and one to Porsche. The engine awards are bestowed by a specialist British publishing company and are among the most important in the automotive industry. One of the most environment-friendly engines in the competition was the new four-cylinder diesel engine from Mercedes-Benz, which won in category 2 up to 2.5 litres. The 125 kW version of the C250CDI Blue Efficiency limousine consumes 4.8 litres of diesel over 100 kilometres, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 127 g/km. |

| | The industry in Baden-Württemberg - Investments in "automotive manufacturing" and "mechanical engineering" more..
| |
| | Investment activity in Baden-Württemberg is primarily to be found in the area of "automotive manufacturing" and "mechanical engineering". Automotive manufacturing in particular has considerably expanded its share in the last few years. In the meantime, this branch of industry accounts for over 30% of the investments in the state. In conjunction with mechanical engineering, these two key industries are responsible for around 50% of the investments of all industrial companies in Baden-Württemberg. Even compared to Germany as a whole, these two industries are in the lead and Baden-Württemberg is their regional focal point. In Germany as a whole, around 30% of investments in automotive manufacturing and the same amount in mechanical engineering is made in Baden-Württemberg. | |

| | Bosch technology for the mobility of tomorrow more..
| |
| | Boxberg/Stuttgart - It is a question that society is deeply interested in: What engine will drive the car of tomorrow? The public discussion is characterised by a wide variety of interests - those of car drivers, the automotive industry, their parts suppliers as well as politicians, associations, environment-protection organisations and many more groupings. Due to the large number of opinions and the knowledge gaps that still exist, the estimates of what is feasible appear to have been pushed into the background. The electric car will arrive in the long term and the combustion engine will survive in the car over the next 20 years. But important technical problems regarding electrification of the drive system have to be solved. And above all, driving must be made safer. The future of the car was the subject of the 2009 automotive press colloquium, which was organised by Bosch, the world's leading parts supplier, in Boxberg in the middle of June 2009. More than 200 journalists from 30 countries took part in the meeting. | |
