Baden-Württemberg - The hub of Europe

Baden-Württemberg lies at the intersection of Europe's main transport routes. The Paris-Budapest, Amsterdam-Milan, Hamburg-Marseille and Warsaw-Paris corridors intersect each other precisely in Baden-Württemberg. Leading consulting and real-estate companies (Jones-Lang-Lasalle and others) assume that the expansion of the European Union towards the east will lead to a situation where the logistics centre of Europe will also move eastwards. This means that the coordinates for top logistics locations will shift from the Benelux region to Germany, where new locations qualify for the settlement of European distribution centres.

A suitable location for logistics companies
more..

The Black Forest Business Park next to the airport in Lahr has suitable space for logistics companies. If you prefer small structures, the east section is the most suitable place. If, on the other hand, you are planning a large facility, the west section will be of interest to you. For both parts of the business park, there is a legally approved construction plan. The multi-modal transportation links make the Black Forest Business Park an optimum location not only for logistics companies. With 580 ha of commercial and industrial space, it is the largest coherent industrial and commercial area in Baden-Württemberg.

more..

London/Mannheim - The European transport and logistics services provider Wincanton plc today published its figures for fiscal year 2008/2009. Listed at the London stock exchange, the company reported a 9.1 per cent growth in turnover in spite of the global economic crisis.

Compared to the preceding year, the total turnover of the Wincanton group rose from 2.164 billion British pounds (3.1 billion euros) to 2.361 billion pounds (2.8 billion euros). In the same period, operating profit increased by 13.5 per cent to 59.9 million pounds (71.7 million euros). The fact that the total turnover and operating profit in euros was nevertheless lower than in the year before is due to changes in the exchange rate of the British pound.
