With her background in finance gained at National Taiwan University, Jung-Chih Chang came to Europe in 2004 as an exchange student at the Institute of Economics at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. It was there that she met young Germans who recommended Tübingen in Baden-Württemberg as a good place to do her Master´s. “I was one of the first students in the brand new Master´s programme “International Economics and Finance” and I am very happy with the programme in Tübingen. It combines all I wanted thanks to its focus on financial markets using quantitative analysis,” the 25-year old Taiwanese says. more |
| | | | | | Top | | | | | | | | | Freiburg: Three languages, two degrees, one course First Franco-German Bachelor's degree in chemistry The first Franco-German Bachelor's degree in chemistry is scheduled to begin in the winter semester of 2010/2011 in the region Freiburg/Mulhouse. The outstanding feature of this new degree in chemistry is the trilingual nature of the course (French, German, English) as well as the importance attached to intercultural skills. The latter includes knowledge of political and scientific structures in France, Switzerland and Germany. Apart from studying chemistry and minor subjects such as mathematics, physics and statistics, students will also have the opportunity of learning about topics ranging from labour law, management, economics through to administration. The new system should significantly improve the survival chances of avalanche victims in the future. An electronic system developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) ensures that an airbag carried by someone caught in an avalanche can be activated by fellow skiers up to 500 metres away from the victim. more |

This primarily online Master´s degree course provides doctors and natural scientists the opportunity of giving their careers a fresh boost. Students can complete the planned four semesters in two or four years, giving them the flexibility to accommodate their own individual professional and family needs. Registrations for the new course must be received by 15 May of this year. more | | | | | | Top | | | | | | | | | Baden-Württemberg top beneficiary of EU research funding Five of the ten most successful German universities in the southwest The high quality of universities, research institutions and companies in Baden-Württemberg puts them top of the league when it comes to EU funding grants for research. The evaluation of the sixth European Framework Programme for Research for the period 2002 to 2006 shows that five of the ten most successful universities in Germany are located in the southwest. The University of Stuttgart leads the way after acquiring 54 million euros of funding for its research institutes alone. "The course at Reutlingen University prepares us very practically for a job in export management, international marketing management or international personnel management. It was perfect for my plans. I want to live and work in different places all around the world with my husband – at least for several years to come." more |
